Personalized Search Results

I was over at John Chow and saw that Search Engine Guide is now a sponsor over there. What’s ironic, is I just came from Search Engine Guide after reading an article…and John Chow happened to be my next read of my day. How’s that for a fun twist?

One of the articles I read over at Search Engine Guide was about personlized search results that Google may be moving towards.

…when the search results are different for everyone, how to you work on increasing the rankings of the site you are optimizing.

This is a great read and interview with Matt Cutts that you’ll want to read. Don’t panic yet, this personalized searching happens only when you’re signed into your Google account, and you can opt out of that as well. SEO isn’t dead, don’t panic just yet! Rely on good information and relevant quality, and you’ll be just fine. They are looking for ways to personalize the search experience, so if a person opts for personalized searching, businesses will have to offer more than a pattern of SEO techniques to find themselves at the top of the engines. Give people what they are looking for- it’s as simple as that!
